Lakehurst Naval Air Engineering Station
Lakehurst is located on the eastern portion of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. - formerly known as Naval Air Engineering Station (NAES) Lakehurst. Lakehurst lies on approximately 7,400 of the joint base’s 42,000 contiguous acres and is centrally located in the New Jersey Pinelands. On Oct. 1, 2009, NAES Lakehurst, McGuire Air Force Base and Fort Dix merged to stand-up JB MDL as directed by the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure legislation.
McGuire, Dix and Lakehurst is the Department of Defense’s only tri-service joint base. Together, we are America’s premier joint war fighting base – uniquely capable of projecting air, land and sea power in support of our nation’s defense. (Source: militaryinstallations.dod.mil)
